Monastery of Pedralbes
In case, you want to find a quite place and escape from the busy city life of Barcelona then you can visit this monastery to get peace of mind. This monastery was built by Queen Elisenda in the year 1326, as she wanted to get forgiveness from her sins. You can find an outstanding Catalan gothic architecture which is surrounded by palm trees. Originally this place was occupied by poor Claris and nuns who were from a noble family. Still there are nuns living in the monastery and there is a museum too.
Arc de Triomf
Among the few free attractions in Barcelona you can visit Arc de Triomf, which is one of the important landmarks of Barcelona. This was constructed in 1888 in order to welcome foreigners and other visitors to a universal exhibition like world fair. This arch is famous for its structural decoration, which used to symbolize Barcelona during the time it was built. Exhibition related to industry, agriculture and various commerce is regularly held over here.
Sant Pau Recinte Modernista
If you are fond of art nouveau then this place must be visited by you. It resembles a church and is one of the top-ranking arts nouveau of Europe. During the 20th century this was built as a hospital and as a research centre for various health-care. For more than 100 years it has served its purpose and now it houses a number of international organizations.
Tibidabo
If you are interested to get panoramic view of Barcelona then you must go to the top of Tibidabo which is 512-meter-high and you can have the entire view of the city. You can easily visit this place via first funicular of Spain. There is a church called Sagra Cor which took 60 years to build with a sculpture of Jesus sacred heart. There is another amusement park and tower for telecommunication nearby.
Parc de la Ciutadella
This place was founded in the year 1714 after Philip V had conquered Barcelona. This citadel was built by forced labour in order to keep control over the Catalans. Now it has transformed into a peaceful place where you can visit a zoo, lake and a museum of natural science.
Barcelona Cathedral
This cathedral of the holy cross is one of the most beautiful gothic buildings of the city of Barcelona. Here is the seat of the archbishop and this place is also known as La Seu. It was built during 14th century. This church is one of the major tourist attractions of Barcelona.
